Any Kind of Raven

One of the shortest verses in the Bible and one that cracked us up when we read it. The verse comes from Leviticus 11:14, during a long list of the specific types of animals and creatures that are considered ritually “unclean.” Most of the items were fairly specific so the contrast of this verse caught us off guard. (From Episode 47)

JACOOOB

While reading Genesis we also watched sections of the movie version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, starring Donny Osmond. In it, the narrator sings the name “Jacob” in a very high, screechy voice several times in the song Jacob and Sons. Emily now loves to sing that any time Jacob is mentioned… which is a lot.

The Rock

Throughout the Bible, God (or Yahweh) is called the Rock, with a capital R. So clearly, we had to cast Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as God in our fictional movie.

The Avenger of Blood

This comes from Numbers 35:19 and Deuteronomy 19:11–12. It’s actually a term for a person who is tasked with carrying out vengeance when a family member is murdered. But when we read it we tried to decide which of the The Avengers would most likely be the one to carry out vengeance and be the avenger of blood. The clear answer was Hawkeye so we cast Jeremy Renner as the embodiment of the Avenger of Blood.
