Episode 061| Numbers 16-17

Yahweh thins the crowds again this week after Korah starts questioning why Mose and Aaron are the men considered holy enough to lead. People are swallowed by the earth, burned to a crisp, and killed by a plague. Bronze censers are rescued from the ashes and melted down to make a new covering for the altar to remind the people of who can and cannot approach it. Yahweh has a genius idea to settle the leadership debate. A man from each of the 12 tribes brings a rod to the tabernacle. The first rod to produce buds will be the rod of the man Yahweh wants to lead. Of course, when Moses checks on the rods the next day, Aaron's has not only produced blossoms, but also has borne ripe almonds. The tribes begin to worry that Yahweh is going to destroy them all...
